A decade old

June 2008 (9 years old)

Zachary is 10 today. He's our oldest and what a good looking young man he is. Zach is a very reserved kid. He's quiet with anyone not in his direct circle of influence. Actually, he can be pretty quiet with them as well. At home he's full of life and talkative, but at church and school it takes his teachers a while to get him to open up. They always get excited and let us know when he finally breaks a smile in class. He loves cub scouts and is about to earn his Bear badge as well as 3 belt loops, a bunch of arrows and a few other awards. He's currently a yellow belt in Karate. Science is his favorite subject and he still wants to be a scientist. He's not fond of school because he thinks it's boring, but loves being with his friends. He makes excellent grades and is a prize pupil to his teachers. He writes in a journal regularly and is trying to develop a habit of reading his scriptures. He loves to read and has finished all 7 Harry Potter books and is currently working on book 4 in the Chronicles of Narnia series. He's got a talent for drawing and loves legos and playing video games. Athletics is not his strong point (which he gets from his mom), but he tries very hard, participating in noon sports at school. He loves to play catch with his Dad in the front yard. He says he wants to play baseball in school. Zach likes structure and schedules. He's showing perfectionist tendencies like his dad and doesn't handle stress well when something isn't done in plenty of time before it's due. He's definately NOT a procrastinator, which keeps Mom on her toes. Although he and Aubrey fight like cats and dogs he really does love her and they play very well together most of the time. He's an excellent big brother to Jacob. Zach is a sweet, easy going kid who brings joy to our lives.
